Clamping and fixing workpieces securely

New compact floating clamps from norelem

With a new, very compact model from its own production, norelem is expanding its range of floating clamps for clamping and supporting components at overdetermined clamping points. The new floating clamp model from norelem is available in two versions. Depending on the application, the standard clamping jaw can be modified or replaced.

With floating clamps, the clamping jaws hold the workpiece securely in position by means of spring force, but with a certain flexibility, and support it - which is why floating clamps are used for thin-walled, bend-sensitive workpieces. They also prevent vibrations and deflection during machining, making them ideal for raw parts with ribs or parts with complex or irregular shapes. The "floating" fixing of the part enables the freedom of movement required for machining, leads to precise results with sensitive workpieces and minimizes clamping errors.

Designed for clamping forces of up to 8000 N, simple operation
The new floating clamps from norelem are available in two versions: With "Form A" the clamping jaws are permanently installed, while with "Form B" users have the option of changing the clamping jaws. Form A is designed to generate load-bearing and clamping forces of up to 5000 N, while Form B can be used to generate load-bearing and clamping forces of up to 8000 N. The base body of both forms is made of nitrocarburized steel, the end stops are made of black anodized aluminium.

The floating clamp can be closed using just one actuating element to fix the component and then lock the base body in the correct position. In the first step, the floating clamp is pressed down to get under the workpiece. In the second step, the jaws of the floating clamp are swiveled to the stop. The lower jaw of the floating clamp should then rest against the underside of the workpiece. In the next step, the floating clamp is tightened with the hexagon nut. It is important to observe the minimum and maximum torque in each case. The workpiece is now clamped and supported at the same time.
