In the production of turned parts, for example made of copper, the exact hole depth is a decisive quality feature. Conventional inspection methods often reach their limits, especially with deep or very fine holes, as material properties, surface condition or limited accessibility can make measurement difficult. With the optoCONTROL CLS1000 in combination with the CFS4-A11 fiber optic reflective sensor, bore depths can be measured reliably and with high precision without contact.
Detection of the finest drilling depths
To detect the depth, the reflex sensor measures from above into the borehole. The deeper the borehole, the less reflected light is received by the sensor and the weaker the electrical signal. In this way, the finest differences in depth down to 50 µm can be detected. The measured values are shown directly on the display so that deviations can be quickly identified and the quality of the turned parts can be reliably assessed.
Precise depth measurement even with deep bores
Thanks to the small beam angle of 22°, the CFS4-A11 fiber optic reflex sensor is particularly suitable for measuring deep bores up to a maximum of 1,200 mm. The non-contact detection is independent of the material and surface and therefore enables stable testing even with challenging copper components. The solution can be optimally integrated into existing production and inspection processes thanks to the customer-specific adaptation of the sensors. This ensures consistently high product quality and significantly reduces the amount of testing required in series production.
