LED testing of charging stations in aircraft cabins

LED testing of charging stations in aircraft cabins

The colorCONTROL MFA-14 LED analyzer is used to ensure the consistent perception of red and green status indicators in aircraft cabins. The system measures color and intensity directly on the LED display and reliably detects deviations within defined tolerances. This allows even the smallest color differences to be reliably detected, which can be noticeable across entire rows of seats in the cabin environment.

In practice, the colorCONTROL MFA-14 is part of end-of-line test devices - including at Loll Feinmechanik GmbH, which develops sockets and USB chargers for aircraft cabins. There, in addition to the electrical function, the LED status display is also objectively tested so that displays in each unit appear identical. up to 14 LEDs are tested simultaneously and precisely directly on the status display using MFS sensors. This allows each LED to be reliably evaluated and documented - even with changing designs and cramped installation situations. Units outside the defined tolerances are sorted out, while tested products with consistent color quality are released.

The color measurement system records relevant measured variables such as color values in common color spaces (e.g. XYZ/xyY/RGB), the dominant wavelength (λdom) for unambiguous evaluation of the main emission component and the color temperature (CCT). The colorCONTROL MFA-14 is suitable for automated test sequences in series production and evaluates LED displays objectively and reproducibly. This replaces or secures visual inspection and the LED quality can be documented in a standardized manner.
