The medium-sized construction and industrial elevator manufacturer GEDA GmbH ensures this during restoration work on a church organ in Verona.
The Cathedral of S. Maria Nascente is a church in the municipality of Cologna Veneta, built in neoclassical style in 1821. From the outside, this cathedral is eye-catching thanks to its imposing facade, but the real work of art is inside. Here stands one of the largest and most complex aerial musical instruments of the 19th century - a beautiful church organ. In order for visitors to the cathedral to continue to enjoy the unique sounds of the organ, it was necessary to restore the historic instrument. This task must be carried out with the utmost care and the necessary know-how, so it was clear that it could only be done by a professional. The organ builder Pietro Corna from Bergamo was commissioned. At the beginning, the complete work of art has to be disassembled in order to overhaul all mechanical parts and to restore the function of the stops.
Another mammoth task is to dismantle and rearrange the organ pipes one by one - here we are not talking about 100 or 200 pieces, but an incredible 2,013 organ pipes. It was therefore clear that further support was needed, because the organ is placed on a high gallery. It is almost impossible to bring the sensitive individual parts and the high number of pipes down safely. In addition, the time factor would be considerable and the narrow construction of the stairway access further complicates the project. A professional was also consulted in this area. An efficient and safe solution could be offered by our long-term customer CI.ERRE SRL, after an on-site visit. The rental company offers the most different solutions for the height access and has also for this extraordinary project the optimal solution - of course from GEDA. The GEDA moving lift makes it possible to transport the more than 2,000 organ pipes and the sensitive components safely down to the ground and that without burdening the workers. Actually the lift is designed for the transport of bulky pieces of furniture and heavy moving boxes, but this project shows once again, how wide the applications of GEDA elevators are. GEDA offers three different lift variants, which can be used individually depending on the local conditions. So the transport professional is available in the versions "GEDA Moving Lift 200 Standard", "GEDA Moving Lift 250 Comfort" and "GEDA Moving Lift 250 Perfect". Since extraordinarily sensitive goods are transported during the use in the cathedral, it is obvious that the "GEDA Umzuglift 250 Perfect" is used. This offers the enormous advantage of a soft start, which guarantees a particularly gentle transport. The round organ pipes do not roll against each other and are not damaged during transport. This device can transport up to 250 kg at a speed of 30 m/min and cover a height of 18.3 meters. The gallery of the church is in this case only 8 meters and so the maximum height is not used. GEDA moving lifts are made of aluminum and therefore very easy to transport. They can be disassembled quickly and easily and usually fit into any van or truck. Arrived at the church, the individual elements could be assembled without tools within a very short time. Optionally it is possible to install a rotating platform to transport goods out of e.g. windows. In addition GEDA offers various accessories for the furniture elevators - no matter if wide glass panes, buckets filled with material or whole bathtubs and toilet bowls. Customers, who decided for example for a height adjustable foot part or an articulated piece for the parapet, confirm the efficient and above all economical operation of furniture lift and accessories. With the use of well thought-out elevators, energy-sapping lugging and dangerous climbing are a thing of the past. The organ can be transported quickly and the sensitive parts of the organ are not damaged. Restoration can start quickly and the workload of the employees is considerably reduced. Especially in today's times of shortage of skilled workers, such aids are a true MUST. Not only on the building site, but in the most different areas GEDA offers here the suitable solution.
