The Südzucker Group plant in the "flower city" of Rain am Lech has been producing sugar for all of Europe since 1957. Located in the border region between Swabia and Upper Bavaria, the plant has always stood for innovation and performance. The neighboring company GEDA GmbH in Asbach-Bäumenheim, only 12 km away, has existed somewhat longer.

The construction and industrial elevator manufacturer has been located there for more than 90 years and builds "Made in Germany" from small traction elevators to large industrial elevators. The name GEDA stands for quality, know-how and competence in the construction machinery industry and on construction sites. A good relationship with regionally located neighboring companies is firmly anchored in the corporate culture.
Annually several thousand tons of sugar can be produced in Rain am Lech. During the
campaign from September to January, employees work 24 hours a day to handle this immense workload. This means that the annual sugar requirement of one German citizen can be produced in less than two seconds. The plant needs silos with more than 100,000 tons of sugar for this production. In order for the goods to get from production to the silos, various conveyor belts and equipment in a so-called elevator tower are necessary. In order to transport tools, auxiliaries and persons for the complex cleaning as well as for maintenance work to the relevant place of the plant parts as well as to the silo ceiling, a GEDA SH 500 was installed. The transport of up to 500 kg or six persons can be done easily, safely and quickly. This GEDA elevator guarantees a smooth transport, exactly to the desired place. The more efficient workflow for maintenance and service work allows a high time and cost saving. On the outside of the tower the triangular mast with the elevator is mounted, which saves a lot of space inside the tower compared to the previous elevator inside the tower. The triangular mast is set up at 43.4 m and ensures that the required lift height of 38.6 m is covered. Due to the maintenance work on the conveyor belt, which often has to be done quickly, a fast transport is necessary.
Thus, this industrial elevator can be driven with a speed of 40 m/min. The GEDA SH is perfectly adapted to the environmental conditions and convinces in the most rugged environments. This device is therefore also used in cement plants, asphalt mixing plants, chemical plants or offshore plants and many more. Not only the local proximity convinced the customer to handle this project with GEDA, also the longtime experience of the construction and industrial lift manufacturer was a decision criterion. Special wishes and specifications could be realized without any problems.
No matter if the given minimum clearance dimension of 2 m x 1,7 m or the required special car with two manual vertical doors and viewing window - GEDA had a solution for everything. In addition to the floor, this unit has to serve two more floors.
