GEDA and Matebat establish a cooperation

French rental company invests in GEDA 2 PK crane operator hoists

The German construction and industrial hoist manufacturer GEDA-Dechentreiter GmbH & Co. KG and the French rental company Matebat announced their cooperation at Intermat 2018 in Paris. Matebat is going to equip its fleet of rental Potain cranes with GEDA 2 PK crane operator hoists.

As of 2019, French legislation will require a crane operator hoist to be installed for every crane with a lifting height of 30 metres and above. Matebat decided to equip its fleet of Potain cranes with GEDA 2 PK crane operator hoists to be prepared for the increasing demand and to increase the efficiency and safety at building sites.

Thanks to the decades of experience of both companies, GEDA and Matebat have been able to jointly develop technical solutions to make the assembly of the market-proven GEDA 2 PK easier and quicker. Moreover, additional safety features for stepping over safely between car and crane mast have been designed.

“By equipping our Potain cranes with the GEDA 2 PK, we are able to offer our customers a convenient all-in-one package around the crane. Our partnership with GEDA enables us to increase the safety and reliability on building sites by means of unique solutions related to assembly, service and maintenance,” says Philippe Cohet, Managing Director of Matebat. The advantages of the GEDA solution for crane operators have convinced the decisionmakers. The GEDA 2 PK transports the crane operator to his workplace – quickly and above all: safely. This means no more risky and exhausting climbs in often poor weather conditions. The flexible system means that the hoist can be assembled on all crane types from all manufacturers, up to a height of 150 m as standard.

The crane operator hoist can also act as a life saver in an emergency situation since the emergency rescue of unconscious or ill crane operators can be carried out very quickly using the GEDA 2 PK. Without a crane operator hoist, a time and cost-intensive helicopter is generally needed.

Johann Sailer, Managing Director of GEDA, welcomes this cooperation: “Safety and efficiency are the top priorities for all GEDA hoist solutions. With the GEDA 2 PK crane operator hoist, we are able to offer our customer Matebat a solution for the French market, which already complies with the future rules coming into effect as of 2019.”
