About P.J. Prause Durotec GmbH

Arnsberg, 1974: Applying his know-how in plastic leaf springs, Paul Joachim Prause decides to go into business for himself and establishes Schichtstofftechnik Prause, which becomes today’s P.J. Prause Durotec GmbH in 1998. Previously, Prause had played a key role at 3M Germany in the introduction and technical application of composite leaf springs made of fibre composite Scotchply™ in Germany and across Europe.

Today, Prause Durotec continues to be a medium-sized family business – with 20 employees and satisfied customers all over the world. In the meantime, the family’s second generation is already in charge of operations:

Tim Prause, a mechanical engineer, has been managing the business since 2007.

Highly specialised, highly flexible

Prause Durotec remains true to itself by concentrating on its core expertise of composite leaf springs in the form of flat leaf springs with E-glass, S-glass and carbon fibres as well as epoxy resins as a matrix. We continually optimise our digitalised production and logistics processes and lead with innovative application ideas. The potential of using composites instead of steel for leaf springs is far from being exhausted.

The whole process in one hand

At our company’s Arnsberg site, all production stages for leaf springs made of S-Ply® are combined under one roof – starting with fibres as UD prepregs to the individual cutting of the pressed plates and the finishing stages such as sealing, drilling or adhesive mounting of spacer plates. For our customers, this translates into short delivery times, tested quality and batch sizes starting at a quantity of 1. Competent engineering advice and constructive spring calculation for individual applications are part of our comprehensive service package as is the adherence to delivery dates and reliable logistics, no matter where in the world Prause Durotec plastic leaf springs are to be used.

S-Ply® leaf springs

S-Ply® leaf springs consist of layered UD (Unidirectional) prepreg plies pressed together. By orienting individual prepreg plies relative to each other, the mechanical properties of an S-Ply&re...
