Lightweight construction is always the focus for aircraft - which is why the team of mechanical engineering and physics students at the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen came up with a basic structure made of carbon fiber composite material for their contribution to the "5th Tübitak International Competition for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles".
At the request of the students, Prause Durotec was able to supply the corresponding molded parts made of S-Ply Carbon. This high-strength yet lightweight material for the base plate and arms of the compact quadrocopter helps to keep its flight weight below 1.7 kg. The components made of CFRP sheet material were cut to size with a water jet according to CNC data.
The team consisted of the students Muhammet Hakan Demir, Matthias Able and Emanuel Schieck, who were supervised by Dipl.-Ing. Cemil Akbulut.
