The New High-Performance Class in Laser Triangulation

The optoNCDT 5500 from Micro-Epsilon has received a significant performance boost: With a measurement rate of 150 kHz across the entire measurement range, it is the fastest laser sensor in its class. At the same time, the optoNCDT 5500 impresses with its exceptional precision, a repeatability of just 8 nm, and resistance to ambient light of up to 200,000 lux—top performance in this sensor class.

Full speed across the entire measurement range

The key advantage lies in the combination of maximum dynamic range and unrestricted measurement performance. While high measurement rates are often only available with a reduced measurement range in many applications, the optoNCDT 5500 delivers its full speed across the entire working range. Users thus benefit from extremely fast measurement results, high process reliability, and maximum flexibility in demanding inline and automation tasks.

Higher precision and improved resistance to stray light

In addition to the increased measurement rate, precision has also been further optimized. Improved reproducibility of < 8 nm ensures reliable measurement results even in high-precision applications. At the same time, thanks to new algorithms, the optoNCDT 5500 achieves an ambient light tolerance of up to 200,000 lux—the best value in this sensor class. This ensures that the sensor remains stable even in strong ambient light and delivers reliable measurement results.

New Measurement Range Expands Application Possibilities

In addition, a new 50-mm measurement range is now available. The optoNCDT 5500 is now available in measurement ranges of 10, 25, 50, 100, and 200 mm. The sensor thus covers an even broader range of applications—from quality control and robotics to highly dynamic measurement tasks in modern automation environments. With its performance boost, the optoNCDT 5500 combines maximum speed, precision, and robustness in a single sensor. Especially in applications where fast processes must be monitored seamlessly and without compromise across the entire measurement range, this laser sensor sets a new standard.
