A look at the development of the Peruvian pebble market by our guest author Martin Garay
Most people see a stone in the river and kick it away.
Peruvian exporters see the same stone and see profit in it.
The year 2025 ended with a lesson in economics: less is more.
The volume of exports fell by almost 14 %. We shipped fewer containers of pebbles, loaded less weight and spent less on freight costs.
Nevertheless, total turnover rose to 3.17 million dollars.
How is that possible?
The average price of pebbles shot up by 33.7 %.
Prices have risen from 0.17 dollars to 0.23 dollars per kilo. The world is paying more for Peruvian pebbles for decoration and landscaping. Peru is no longer giving away raw materials; we are selling a finished product that the international market values and needs.
Companies like DWK SAC have understood this perfectly, achieving a turnover of 1.44 million dollars and growing by 63%.
Stop thinking that you have to work more to earn more. Sometimes you just have to make sure your product is worth more.
