Prause Durotec is once again entering into a partnership with university research. This time as a member of the project support committee in an exciting robotics project with Professor Thomas Gries. The Institute of Textile Technology (ITA) at RWTH Aachen University is researching how "cost-effective collaborative robots" (so-called "cobots") can support the production of components made of FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic).
The focus of the research project is on teaching a cobot to imitate the movements of trained specialists in the draping of fiber layers using imitation learning. The main question here is how humans and robots can share tasks efficiently and effectively. We look forward to contributing to the project as potential users of such production technologies - we will of course report on interesting results here!
