Recognition of color nuances on control elements

In the production and assembly of shiny metallic control elements in vehicles, not only the basic colors of products, but also materials and coatings must be recognized and differentiated. Changes in the surface structure, reflection and coloring can cause a different color perception, such as with panels and switches in the interior of a car.

Testing when installed in control elements

The colorSENSOR CFO250 from Micro-Epsilon checks the parts for similar but different colors (e.g. different shades of silver). Thanks to the integrated multi-teach function, the color sensors can also reliably detect highly structured or curved components and monitor the correct installation in switching or control elements of vehicles. The controller is used together with the CFS4-K18 & V14 reflex sensors for the measurement task.

Extension to include the LCh color space

The true color sensors from Micro-Epsilon impress with their high color accuracy and reproducibility. Up to 320 colors in 254 color groups can be taught into the multi-teach function. Thanks to the addition of the LCh color space, the colorSENSOR CFO250 also complies with the color measurement regulations commonly used in the automotive industry. Thanks to its high measuring speed, the true color sensor can evaluate 7,500 parts per second and transfer them directly to a process controller at 30 kHz via the switching outputs. It is operated intuitively via the web-based interface.
