A heart for all conductors - new screw connectors from PFISTERER with unique conductor channel

PFISTERER has reinvented the conductor channel shape for low-voltage screw connectors.

The unique heart shape offers advantages during installation. It is suitable for all conductor shapes and types - including 120° sector conductors. At the same time, the electrical and mechanical properties of the connectors have also been significantly improved. The result is a new generation of screw connectors that sets new standards.
With their innovative heart-shaped conductor channel, the new low-voltage screw connectors up to 1 kV from PFISTERER solve several assembly challenges at once: the special design is suitable for all types of conductor materials and conductor designs, including 120° sector conductors. These often cause problems with secure screw connections in connectors with a round conductor channel and have to be pressed round at great expense before assembly. The large heart-shaped conductor channel from PFISTERER solves this problem, as it is perfectly suitable for all conductor shapes. The mounting screws are flush with the straight upper edge of the conductor channel. The insertion of crushed or protruding conductor ends is also simplified
and prevents bumping or snagging of individual wires. Even under difficult installation conditions, good over-plugging and secure positioning of the conductor under the screws are guaranteed. "With our new low-voltage connectors, we have developed a practical solution that thinks for itself. Safe and easy handling was our top priority," explains Jens Keller, Product Manager at PFISTERER. "At the same time, we have implemented mechanical and electrical improvements."

One for all

In addition to the new conductor duct shape, numerous technical details from PFISTERER's tried-and-tested SICON connector series have been adapted to the new low-voltage solution. For example, an integrated conductor channel groove in the connector breaks through the oxidation layer of aluminum cables, ensures linear contacting and at the same time increases the conductor pull-out force. A two-stage shear bolt with external hexagon also ensures minimal screw protrusion and prevents the screw head from jamming in the tool when it is torn off. A rotating pressure plate at the base of the screw prevents damage to individual wires during assembly and ensures optimum contact forces over the entire service life of the connection, regardless of the conductor material. Alternatively, the connectors are also available with removable studs.

With inspection hole, separator, shear bolt or stud bolt

The new low-voltage connectors with a heart-shaped conductor channel are available in six sizes from 10 to 35 mm in diameter and in four variants - either with a large viewing hole or with a separator and with shear-off or stud screws. The inspection hole simplifies the positioning of the ladder ends in the connector and also enables pre-assembly in the parking position for later completion of the connection. The divider variant offers on the one hand
the divider variant provides a liquid and gas barrier, for example when using cables with oil-soaked insulation, as well as a secure stop for the conductor ends. All low-voltage connectors of the new generation are suitable for shrink sleeves in accordance with DIN SPEC 47640 and meet the corresponding requirements with regard to screw protrusion. No reworking is required to shrink the connectors. In addition, the new low-voltage connectors from PFISTERER are mechanically and electrically tested in accordance with IEC 61238-1-1 Class A.
