The ultra-modern New National Hospital is being built in Iceland and GEDA is involved in the construction work with its equipment. The Bavarian industrial and construction hoist manufacturer is currently helping to transport heavy materials and construction site workers with two GEDA 3700 Z/ZP transport platforms.

In Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, a new and ultra-modern hospital is currently being built - the "New National Hospital". The new hospital is designed for modern and efficient operation.
This can be seen, for example, in the plans for the laboratory center, which is networked with other departments via a special
pneumatic tube system and can therefore send samples and analyses quickly and efficiently to the required location.
Another special feature of the hospital are the operating theatres, which can be used up to a certain
earthquake strength. There have been an increasing number of earthquakes in Iceland in recent months and these should not affect hospital operations (any more).

In addition to the New National Hospital, there will also be a hotel for patients with 75 rooms on 4 floors. The single, family and handicapped-accessible rooms are connected to all the hospital's main operating units and there is a restaurant in the building as well as a sun terrace. The new hospital in Reykjavík will definitely be a special building and GEDA is part of this extraordinary project.

GEDA 3700 Z/ZP

Since October 2023, a GEDA 3700 Z/ZP has been involved in the construction work of the new hospital in Reykjavík. The second transport platform is currently being completed at GEDA and will be delivered in May to support the construction work as agreed. Both transport platforms will be used to transport personnel and large, heavy materials during the construction of the New National Hospital, which will take at least five years. They will also be instrumental in the installation and transportation of the various glass elements for the façade. GEDA and its Icelandic partner Hoist Vinnulyftur
worked with the client to develop a special, narrow mast bracket so that almost all of the façade elements could be finally installed. This challenge was possible thanks to the rapid development by GEDA's own structural engineering department and with the help of GEDA Central tools such as the Installation Designer.

A special feature of this construction site are the fully assembled patient rooms, which are brought to the right place with the GEDA 3700 Z/ZP. A challenge that the
transport platform with platform C masters with ease thanks to its load capacity of 3200 kg and a size of 2.9 m x 4 m. The platform size and load capacity vary depending on the model, but a maximum load capacity of 3700 kg is possible. The personnel as well as the materials and tools are lifted to a height of 30 m. The maximum possible transport height of the transport platform is 200 m at a lifting speed of 36 m/min in material mode and 12 m/min in personnel mode. At the 30 m conveying height, the device travels to 6 floors, which are equipped with double comfort floor doors to enable safe access to the building.

Nine years of GEDA & Hoist Vinnulyftur
GEDA and Hoist Vinnulyftur have been working together on projects in Iceland since 2015. Since 2017, the company has also been an official GEDA dealer and responsible for the distribution of our products in Iceland. Due to the size of the country, Hoist Vinnulyftur is the only GEDA dealer in Iceland. The cooperation works very well due to the personal contact and the GEDA training offers, some of which are customer-specific, and has resulted in successful projects for both companies. As part of this, the Managing Director and Technical Director of Hoist Vinnulyftur visited GEDA in September 2023 to receive training on an installed GEDA 3700 Z/ZP.
