Despite constant or increasing overall performance, modern and innovative mechanical engineering is characterized by decreasing external dimensions. This development can also be observed in the field of drive technology. The necessary connecting elements play an important role here.
Here, the KPS metal bellows coupling shows what it can do. In addition to the well-known advantages of a bellows coupling (compensation of shaft misalignment, low moment of inertia, high torsional stiffness, absolutely backlash-free, maintenance-free, temperature-insensitive all-metal design), the very short overall length of the expanding cone hub for integrated installation also comes into play. The expansion cone connects securely to an appropriately dimensioned axial bore in the shaft.
The use of an expansion cone hub on one side and a radial clamping hub on the other both maintains a rotationally symmetrical, friction-locked connection and ensures easy assembly. However, the installation length within the overall system is significantly reduced. This makes it ideal for applications with small shaft distances and tight installation conditions.
Due to its high torsional stiffness and low moments of inertia, the metal bellows coupling is ideally suited for highly dynamic drives.
Overall, this coupling is suitable as a connecting element for complex drive systems, for the assembly of gearboxes, the connection of encoders as well as for spindle and axle drives.
