Shaft couplings from norelem

From simple drives to complex positioning drives

Precise torque transmission, vibration damping and motion control - couplings from norelem are versatile and available in different designs. These include metal bellows couplings, elastomer claw couplings, spring bar couplings, cross slider couplings and rigid couplings.

Shaft couplings connect two shafts and transmit rotary motion and torque from a driving shaft to a driven shaft. The shafts are coupled via a rigid or a flexible connection. Mostly, linear shaft connections are realized with flexible shaft couplings. Shaft couplings are also used to compensate for axial and radial shaft misalignments and angular errors, as well as to dampen vibrations and shocks.

Areas of application for norelem cou plings

Shaft couplings are used in a wide variety of areas and designs: from simple drives in machine tools, packaging and textile machines to complex positioning drives in control and regulation technology. They are divided into two functional areas. On the one hand, there are applications in which the transmission of torque and power is the main focus, e.g. in pumps, conveyor systems and agitators. On the other hand, there are applications for position and motion control, which are to transmit rotary movements precisely and with position accuracy, e.g. in servo and stepper motors for linear axes.

Available designs

Norelem offers shaft couplings as metal bellows and elastomer claw couplings, as well as spring bar, cross-slide and rigid couplings. The choice of design depends primarily on the power to be transmitted and connection to be balanced. The type of mounting is also an important factor. For example, there are designs with clamping hubs and removable clamping hubs, which are slotted and split in the case of rigid couplings. Couplings with removable split clamping hubs can be mounted radially. The shaft and drive do not have to be disassembled for installation or replacement of the coupling.

Shaft couplings are almost maintenance-free. Only in the case of elastomer claw couplings are the coupling spiders, which are made of polyurethane, subject to wear due to aging and load. However, the stars can be easily replaced without having to replace the entire coupling.

Metal bellows couplings are made of stainless steel and aluminum, with the metal bellows made of stainless steel and the hub made of aluminum and stainless steel. The couplings are assembled with clamping hubs or removable clamping hubs. Available for shaft diameters from 3 to 70 mm, they transmit torques from 0.5 to 1500 Nm.

Elastomer claw couplings are constructed of aluminum and stainless steel, with the coupling star made of polyurethane. They are mounted using clamping hubs or removable clamping hubs. Elastomer claw couplings from norelem are available for shaft diameters from 3 to 60 mm. They can transmit torques from 0.7 to 525 Nm.

Spring bar couplings are made of aluminum and stainless steel. They are mounted via clamping hubs or removable clamping hubs. The spring bar couplings are designed for shaft diameters of 3 to 35 mm and torques of 3 to 130 Nm.

Cross slide couplings are made of aluminum and can be mounted on shaft diameters of 3 to 14 mm via clamping hubs. torques of 1 to 7 Nm are transmitted.

Rigid couplings are made of steel and stainless steel. The mounting method is slotted and split. Torques of 16 to 2250 Nm can be transmitted on shaft diameters of 8 to 85 mm.
