Optimal tracking for plates and sheets

KULLEN-KOTI will be presenting its furnace transport rollers at Aluminium 2022 KULLEN-KOTI's furnace transport rollers are equipped with special wire trimmings that are temperature-resistant up to 1,200 °C. They are used worldwide in the horizontal lines of heat treatment plants. They are used worldwide in the horizontal lines of heat treatment plants, where they enable the precise and surface-friendly conveying of aluminum plates and sheets. At this year's ALUMINIUM in Düsseldorf, KULLEN-KOTI will be presenting this exceptional type of brush and providing information on the numerous possibilities for its customized fine-tuning. The company can be found in hall 7A at booth D30.

KULLEN-KOTI is not only one of the leading suppliers of tool brushes for the mechanical processing of semi-finished aluminum products, but also one of the top suppliers to manufacturers of plants for the production of aluminum materials and their alloys for the aerospace and automotive industries. In the continuous heat treatment plants for recrystallizing, condition annealing and solution annealing as well as for refining semi-finished aluminum products, for example, they rely on furnace transport rolls from KULLEN-KOTI. At this year's ALUMINIUM 2022 in Düsseldorf (27-29.9.2022), the globally active company will therefore present - among other things - the latest generation of its furnace transport rollers for use in roller hearth furnaces. First-hand information will be available to engineers, purchasers and maintenance personnel in the aluminum industry in Hall 7A at Booth D30 on the special technical features and quality characteristics of these special brushes, which are usually delivered ready for installation and are often modified to meet specific customer requirements.

KULLEN-KOTI's furnace transport rollers are primarily roller brushes that are characterized by very high-quality, particularly dense wire trimmings and coatings. These trimmings and coverings ensure that the sheets, plates or panels run through the processing equipment in a precise straight line. In this way, they prevent unwanted material deposits (pick-up) on the roll and protect the undersides of the semi-finished aluminum products. In this way, the furnace transport rollers from KULLEN-KOTI not only support homogeneous process control during heat treatment, but also reduce the cost of plant maintenance. The heat-treated plates or sheets can usually be transferred to the next process stage without any further post-treatment.

Standing vertically on the roller

In order to optimally implement the requirements and operating conditions of different users and plant manufacturers, the furnace rollers from KULLEN-KOTI are usually equipped with extremely homogeneous wire trimmings, so that the highest possible density of their surfaces is guaranteed. What this means in concrete terms is demonstrated by the company at its ALUMINIUM trade fair stand using the brush band setting of its DBS (double band spiral) series. Its individual wires are arranged with high precision vertically on the roller and with uniform spacing. They can be made of materials resistant to heat of up to 1,200 °C. The entire brush surface is also sheared for optimum concentricity and ground to a grip-free finish in both axial and radial directions. This is done at KULLEN-KOTI in a specially developed and probably worldwide unique machining center, which also allows the surface of the transport roller to be provided with a concave curvature or with a convex hollow grinding. The company will also be providing information at ALUMINIUM on the additional options for customer-specific optimization offered by this machining center.

Maximum utilization of furnace capacity

KULLEN-KOTI's high quality standards ultimately ensure that the company's furnace transport rollers exhibit excellent transport behavior. In practice, this means that their tracking accuracy is very high and the lateral offset is minimal. As a result, the available furnace space can be optimally utilized and the wear of the transport rollers remains low, so that they achieve long service lives.

At KULLEN-KOTI's ALUMINIUM booth, the company's experts will provide information on numerous other aspects of the manufacture and application of furnace transport rollers. For example, about the possibility of reconditioning and renewal of the wire trimmings, the offer of simulation of commissioning processes or about the use of mobile measuring systems for furnace systems of older date. In addition, visitors to the fair will learn why it is so important that the spiral brush linings of KULLEN-KOTI's kiln brushes are mounted endlessly tight with precisely defined tension and pressure values and that each roller brush undergoes an electrodynamic balancing process.
