A pneumatic coupling is used e.g. with emergency drives which are not designed to run all the time. In an emergency, the coupling is switched automatically and the pneumatic motor takes over the drive through the non-positive connected coupling. The coupling is opened using spring force and becomes non-positive under pneumatic pressure which is tapped from the measuring connections of the pneumatic motor. As soon as the pneumatic motor delivers its torque, the coupling switches.
