Grain flow forging for critical and demanding applications and environments

Forgings have a grain flow, similar to the grain structure of wood, which is created by plastic deformation during the forging process. The physical properties of the forgings can be improved by the correct alignment of the grain pattern.

Everyday examples of forgings are wheel bolts for cars or nuts for wind turbines(take a closer look at them if you see one: Blade fasteners, anchor bolts)! Other examples include all kinds of fasteners and lifting equipment, including forged hooks, eyebolts and chain links.

Forged parts are also part of complex assemblies such as caterpillar tracks, articulated joints for buses or trains, hydraulic systems and lifting devices as well as gear wheels (forged blanks), pinions, rollers, brackets and supports.

KB Schmiedetechnik GmbH is a West German drop forging company that specializes in the small series production of drop forgings from 200g to 130Kg unit weight and up to 600mm length, with a focus on the following areas:
