Permanent Magnet couplings have two opposite discs equipped with powerful rare earth magnets. The torque applied to one disc is transferred over an air gap or through a wall out of nonmagnetic material to the other disc. It is possible to compensate an angular misalignment up to 3 ° (Fig. 1) as well as a parallel misalignment up to 6 mm (Fig.2)It is possible to adjust the transmittable torque by adjusting the air gap between the discs. If the transmittable torque is exceeded, the coupling will slide contactless and can be used as torque limiter without wearing.
