Applicable base materials

In principle, all steels, non-ferrous metals and their alloys can be hard chromium plated with a few exceptions.

Thickness of hard chrome layers
Depending on the intended use, layers up to 1-2 mm thick are possible.

The most common layers are 0.005-0.6 mm.

Thicker layers must be reground or re-eroded in most cases. Hard chrome layers are not levelling.

Therefore, it is not possible to "level" cracks or pores.

Hard chrome plating designs save you money.

You can make the hard chrome plating process much easier if you take care when shaping your workpieces to avoid sharp edges and create good current feeds.
