GEDA transport platforms in use worldwide: Support for major project in South Africa

GEDA 500 Z/ZP in use in the province of KwaZulu-Natal

The South African coastal city of Durban in the province of KwaZulu-Natal is known for its cultural richness with African, Indian and colonial influences. But German engineering and technology are also currently being put to use: on a large-scale construction site, a transport platform from the Bavarian hoist manufacturer GEDA GmbH is ensuring efficient processes.
The focus is on the renovation of the Oceans Building, part of the well-known Oceans Mall. The building has been completely scaffolded for the extensive work – a mammoth logistical project that is being significantly supported by expertise ‘Made in Germany’.
Together with its long-standing partner SkyJacks, GEDA supplied two GEDA 500 Z/ZP transport platforms and a GEDA 300 Z material hoist. SkyJacks took care of the rental and on-site support for the equipment.

Flexible solution for the most demanding requirements
The GEDA 500 Z/ZP impressed across the board with its versatility: designed for tough everyday construction site use, the hoist is suitable both as a pure material hoist and for transporting people. This is made possible by two separate control systems. With a lifting speed of 24 m/min in material mode and 12 m/min in passenger mode, the hoist ensures rapid construction progress.
Thanks to its compact design, high load capacity and various platform variants, the GEDA 500 Z/ZP can be optimally adapted to the conditions of any construction site. The open, spacious load platform offers sufficient space for a wide variety of building materials.
Its ‘little brother’, the GEDA 300 Z, was also used successfully on the construction site. Despite its compact size, it is a robust partner for efficient material transport. Its advantages: easy assembly thanks to lightweight 2 m aluminium masts, convenient loading and unloading ramp, and a 90-degree swivelling cabin for safe and ergonomic working on the floors.
With a load capacity of 300 kg and available in either 230 V or 400 V versions, the GEDA 300 Z adapts flexibly to the requirements of any construction site. Transporting extremely large scaffolding elements became child's play with these helpers.

Enthusiasm among project partner SkyJacks
Stephan Naude, Divisional Director at SkyJacks, was extremely satisfied with the successful outcome of the project: "We have had consistently positive experiences with GEDA transport platforms and material hoists in the past. But this project in particular once again highlighted how efficient and economical it is to use the right lifting technology. The enormous reduction in the workload for staff is particularly noteworthy. Thanks to the GEDA hoists, we were able to
work with half the team and achieve a time saving of around 30% – an impressive result that is reflected in all areas: from cost-effectiveness and ergonomics to overcoming the shortage of skilled workers."
