Position monitoring of a crane boom

Micro-Epsilon wireSENSOR WPS-K100 draw-wire sensors are ideal for monitoring safety-relevant parameters such as the length of a crane boom to calculate the load torque and the boom position to prevent collisions.

The robust sensor design with fiberglass-reinforced plastic and the separate spring and drum chamber are decisive factors here, ensuring a long service life even under adverse environmental conditions. The OEM-compatible sensors can be adapted to the respective measuring task with various modifications. This model also offers an optimum price-performance ratio for series applications. Further advantages for integration in industrial applications are easy handling, the compact design and the wide temperature range of -40 to +85 °C.

The sensor can be combined with a customer-supplied encoder for signal evaluation. Depending on customer requirements and variant, the output signal can be analog via potentiometer, current or voltage or digital via CANopen.
