New performance class for laser displacement sensors

The optoNCDT 5500 laser sensor is available with four measuring ranges of 10, 25, 100 and 200 mm.

Both a standard and an extended measuring range are available for each model, making the sensor particularly versatile.

The laser displacement sensor is specially designed for displacement measurement of diffusely reflective materials and is ideal for demanding measurement tasks, such as those that occur with rapidly changing and less reflective surfaces. With an adjustable measuring rate of 0.25 to 75 kHz and a maximum power consumption of just 5 W, the optoNCDT 5500 offers high energy efficiency.

The outstanding precision of the sensor is reflected in a linearity from 1.5 µm and a reproducibility of less than 0.0015 %. Thanks to its IP67 protection rating, the sensor is ideally suited for use in harsh industrial environments. The RS422 and Ethernet interfaces are available for communication, and drag-chain-compatible extension and adapter cables are also available.

Thanks to Advanced Surface Compensation with innovative algorithms, it is possible to quickly regulate the exposure time, enabling the sensor to achieve stable measurement results even on challenging surfaces with changing reflections. The optoNCDT 5500 is also extremely resistant to ambient light and can easily be used in highly illuminated areas with up to 50,000 lux ambient light.

Thanks to its compact design, the sensor is also suitable for tight installation spaces. An adapter plate makes it easy to switch from the predecessor model optoNCDT 2300 to the optoNCDT 5500. Typical areas of application include the assembly of printed circuit boards, position testing of components, wear testing on rails in rail traffic or thickness measurement in tire production.
