Satisfied employees as the basis for success
Lehnert GmbH from Fernwald in Central Hesse increases turnover by 40 percent in the previous year / Awarded the "Employer of the Future" seal of approval
Lutz Köppen, Managing Director of Lehnert GmbH, is having a good laugh these days: his company was recently awarded the "Employer of the Future" seal. This is good news for the medium-sized company, which specializes in partition wall systems and industrial interior fittings, at a time when there is a huge shortage of skilled workers. "I am very proud of this award," admits Köppen. The award shows that the company is not only economically successful, but also places its employees at the center of its activities.
With a 40 percent increase in turnover last year to 24.5 million euros, Lehnert provides flexible development opportunities in the workplace with functional and aesthetic room concepts and excellent acoustics. The fact that this success is not a matter of course, but has to do with the people who work for the company, has now been underlined once again by the award. The company scored highly in five areas during the application process: modern leadership, innovative strength, status of digital transformation, employee friendliness and recruiting strategies. 85 employees, including three trainees, currently benefit from the positive working environment at the company.
This year, the number of employees is set to increase further, with 5-10 new colleagues and two new trainees to be recruited, primarily in the commercial and technical areas. We are looking for industrial and office clerks, technicians and draughtsmen. In addition to many further training opportunities, IT know-how in particular will be trained in order to always be up to date. "We are trying to promote digitalization in the company very proactively," says the Managing Director. This topic is seen as a great opportunity to remain competitive in the future.
Lehnert is also investing 500,000 euros in machinery and software this year in order to be technically up to date. Among other things, an aluminum double miter saw, industrial trucks and a compressed air system will be purchased for the new production hall. The modern hall was built last year at a cost of 2.5 million euros. A photovoltaic system and four e-charging stations were also added.
Siemens Healthineers in Forchheim/Bavaria is one of the companies that the Central Hesse-based company has won over with its expertise. They are building radiation protection cabins worth over five million euros for the medical technology specialists. Among other things, 350 tons of lead are processed during production.
