Ball valves for oxygen applications

The GEMÜ BB02, B22, B42 and B52 ball valves have been classified as "suitable for handling oxygen" by the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) following extensive testing.

This is a valuable addition to the existing product range, which already includes globe and diaphragm valves as well as butterfly valves for oxygen.

The ball valve seals were tested in strict compliance with DIN EN 1797 and ISO 21010 and defined clear conditions for safe use. This means that the GEMÜ BB02, B22, B42 and B52 ball valves are suitable for use with gaseous oxygen, provided the operating temperature does not exceed 60°C and the maximum operating pressure is 30 bar. PTFE seals and O-rings made of FKM are used as sealing materials. GEMÜ customers can order the ball valves for use with oxygen in the special "O" version.

The BAM emphasizes the need for special care when handling oxygen. Therefore, all wetted components of the ball valves for oxygen service are carefully cleaned. Both the sealing materials and the auxiliary materials such as lubricants and threadlockers comply with the strict regulations.

This means that the valve specialist GEMÜ can offer another safe solution for handling oxygen with its ball valves. The result of the BAM test confirms the quality and reliability and underlines the company's commitment to the safety of its customers.
