A round birthday, a round thing - BLOHM's drill bush turns 90 and is as popular as ever. The industry welcomed the precision product with open arms right from the start of production in 1934. Since then, the drill bush has joined the ranks of numerous other standard and operating parts as well as countless customer-specific special solutions. Since 2021, BLOHM has been contributing its decades of expertise in the fields of turning, hardening and precision grinding to the KIPP Group as a successful business unit.


In the ever-changing history of NORMTEILWERK ROBERT BLOHM, there has always been one reliable constant - the drill bush. launched in 1934, the current portfolio now comprises more than 3000 product types. What they all have in common is their high quality and precision down to the µm range, the result of decades of expertise, a high level of vertical integration and a clear commitment to Germany as a production location.


"The industry recognized the reliability of BLOHM products early on," says Managing Director Otto Braun, looking back to the early days. "Within a very short space of time, the company expanded so rapidly that it became necessary to relocate from Hamburg city center to Bergedorf. in 1957, drill bushing production was then transferred from the Bergedorf plant to Büchen in Schleswig-Holstein, where it is still located today."


NORMTEILWERK ROBERT BLOHM was given its current name in 1974, when the drill bushing production was separated from the machine division of the company, not only physically but also legally, and was subsequently managed by the Blohm family. in 1999, the Blessing family of entrepreneurs took over the business until BLOHM became part of the KIPP Group in 2021, another family-run company with a long tradition and headquarters in Sulz am Neckar, Baden-Württemberg.

BLOHM is ideally positioned for the future. In addition to the continuous development of further new products and the training of new specialists, the digitalization of sales and production is also on the agenda of the training company. "Over the next few years, we will further optimize both our processes and our portfolio," Otto Braun sums up. "With creativity and innovative strength, we will develop into a successful unit within the KIPP Group."
