On November 8, the 6th symposium "ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING in the Textile Industry" will take place at the international trade fair for additive manufacturing technologies Formnext in Frankfurt am Main.

The series of events focuses on a topic with implications. Additive technologies, especially 3D printing processes, offer completely new potential for the development of innovative textile solutions and customized products, but also for the design of processes.

"With industrial 3D printing, we can easily and quickly equip textiles with design or functional elements. Prototyping is also gaining efficiency. Less effort usually means less environmental impact created by value-added processes," says Michael Kieren, Product Manager New Business Development at the KARL MAYER GROUP.

The textile machinery company has developed a technological option for combining knitted fabric production with 3D printing and is a co-organizer of the symposium. Other organizers are the Textile Research Institute Thuringia-Vogtland e. V. (TITV Greiz) and the Saxon Textile Research Institute e. V. (STFI).

Together, the industry players have prepared a diverse program for those interested in the textile industry and plastics processing. Topics of the lectures from science and industry are new materials, innovative manufacturing technologies and future-oriented applications. Participants will learn more about the latest developments in thermoplastic fused layer modeling, printing using dispensers or screen printing, as well as materials and applications of textiles in the fields of protection and architecture. For the first time, the lectures will be complemented by an accompanying trade exhibition, where companies with experience in working with additive manufacturing processes will present their products and services.

Those who attend the symposium will receive a 4-day Expo Pass to Formnext, which will take place from November 7 to 10, 2023.
