Launch of HKS 3-M ON PLUS with significantly expanded product range

KARL MAYER has added a new model to its successful HKS 3-M ON family. The newcomer is called HKS 3-M ON PLUS and - nomen est omen - offers more flexibility than has ever been possible. In particular, new additions to the production repertoire are net-like fabrics which can be produced with different densities and constructions, including square marquisette and shoe fabrics, in each case also convertible with coarse machine gauges. The expanded article range extends the application limits of the HKS 3-M range and opens up new application potential. The HKS 3-M ON PLUS is the machine of choice, especially when tough, hard-wearing textiles are required. The all-rounder scores further plus points thanks to even better fabric quality and a competitive speed. Being equipped with KARL MAYER's ON patterning gear makes patterning possible without any repeat limitation and with maximum efficiency.

Technical equipment for maximum efficiency

The performance upgrade is based on specific technical adjustments. The changes include reinforced needles and knitting elements and a more robust gang movement. In addition, the range of movement of the sinkers has been extended, thus increasing flexibility in patterning. Apart from the modifications for more versatility, the HKS 3-M ON PLUS offers the features and technologies of the latest digital generation three-bar HKS models. These include a reel-up with additional benefits, optimizations for multispeed without loss of speed, and monitoring of energy data - each presented as prototypes at ITMA 2023. Further innovations simplify handling and ensure higher product quality.

The HKS 3-M ON PLUS is offered in gauges E 14 to E 28 and with working widths of 130″, 180″ and 210″.

Patterning with maximum flexibility and efficiency

Those who want to efficiently exploit the diverse patterning potential of the HKS 3-M ON PLUS can use the digital options of the HKS 3-M ON family. Available are k.innovation CORE and k.innovation CORE lite. The two web-based software solutions in KM.ON's k.innovation product range were developed for patterning with unlimited repeat lengths without mechanical data carriers and require the machine to be networked with the cloud of the KARL MAYER GROUP subsidiary. The advantages of this are significantly less time and effort for pattern changes. Lengthy ordering processes and costs for transports are eliminated, as are warehousing and time-consuming manual interventions on the machine, which are common when using pattern discs. k.innovation CORE lite is a browser-based chain link editor. For patterns already created, the required chain link notations can be conveniently imported from any mobile device and easily edited with k. innovation CORE lite. To create new patterns, the legend values of simple designs can be entered for each basic layout bar. The software takes care of the plausibility check before loading directly onto the machine. With the web-based software k.innovation CORE, patterns can additionally be created with a design tool on any mobile device, involving everyone involved in the creative process online. Working from one source shortens processes, helps to avoid mistakes, and promotes creative performance through uncomplicated exchange.

Developed in close accordance with practical experience

For the extreme performance focus of the HKS 3-M ON PLUS, KARL MAYER worked closely with its customer Heathcoat Fabrics in the development of the new model. The company, which was founded in 1808 and is based in the UK, has been a partner of the KARL MAYER GROUP for many years and is a market-leading manufacturer of knitted and woven fabrics. Its specialties include technical textiles with individual application targets, for whose development and production complex challenges often have to be solved. The veil fabric for Queen Elizabeth's wedding in 1947 came from Heathcoat Fabrics, as did parachute fabrics for NASA's Mars mission with the Perseverance rover, for which the pioneer received a Queen's Award for Enterprise in 2022.In order to be able to implement its product portfolio even more efficiently, the company initiated the development of the HKS 3-M ON PLUS and supported it in processing tests with heavier yarns than previously usual for tricot machines. The customer also contributed its profound practical know-how to the cooperation.
