New solution for connecting multi-port valve manifolds

GEMÜ, the valve specialist from Ingelfingen, Germany, is launching two new solutions for the connection of single-use multi-port valve blocks.

On the one hand, it is now possible to control the locking of the valve block pneumatically via locking cylinders by means of a valve block recessed in the system surface. On the other hand, there is the solution of using a valve block placed on the system surface, in which the connection of the valve body to the drive unit takes place manually via a removable hand lever. The latter variant offers greater flexibility in the arrangement of the nozzles. Coupling between the actuators and the diaphragms welded onto the valve block is achieved reliably within a few seconds using the clamping principle familiar from the GEMÜ SU40 SUMONDO. The blocks themselves are produced by machining and can therefore be individually designed.

The use of single-use technologies offers several advantages: Saving on conventional cleaning cycles and the associated expenditure on energy, cleaning media, waste disposal and peripheral equipment, while at the same time increasing protection against cross-contamination between different manufacturing campaigns. In addition, factory downtime is minimized, significantly improving the flexibility and effectiveness of single-use solutions in medical and pharmaceutical applications compared to conventional solutions. In addition, the use of single-use technology reduces the negative environmental impact due to the elimination of energy-intensive cleaning cycles.
