How are robots with optical sensors calibrated?

In order to achieve fully automatic and autonomous calibration of robot cells, sensors of the scanCONTROL and optoNCDT series are used. The use of the optical sensors enables permanent monitoring and recovery of the production process at the push of a button.

The sensors are operated together with special software from the company teconsult. Various Micro-Epsilon sensors can be directly integrated into the software. In addition, the solution can be used to perform automated measurements, tests or corrections of the robot kinematics, the robot gripper and the periphery of the robot cell. The sensor technology is permanently integrated into the robot cell or used as a portable service tool.

Advantages
  • Process reliability: Deviations are detected and corrected immediately
  • Precise measurement of the robot's tool center point
  • Position determination of components and fixtures (base measurement)
  • Large sensor selection with small and compact sensor technology
