EnviroWater Group provides innovative wastewater treatment system with the ability to reuse water in production.

Meyer Burger opened a new plant for the production of high-performance solar cells in Thalheim, city of Bitterfeld-Wolfen. The production process for high-quality solar cells requires both treated water of the highest quality and efficient wastewater treatment with a sustainable water recycling concept.

The EnviroWater Group, with EnviroChemie as general contractor, supplied customised plant solutions for ultra-pure water treatment (EnviroFALK) and sustainable wastewater treatment of the production wastewater (EnviroChemie) for the new solar cell plant. Both companies are part of the EnviroWater Group, a network of water specialists.

Half of the wastewater is treated so that it can be reused in the process. This is an important contribution to conserving water resources and minimizing the water footprint. The remaining wastewater is treated chemically and physically using Envochem's Envochem technology in a multi-stage process so that it can be discharged easily and does not pollute the environment.

"Our new sustainable solar cell production has modern water treatment technology and, very importantly, a water recycling plant. This saves us resources. This would not have been possible without the impressive work of EnviroChemie and EnviroFALK," André Rolle, Head of Fab Engineering at Meyer Burger.
