Düsterloh fluid technology in the offshore sector
Offshore structures such as drilling rigs have played an essential role in the industry for decades, supplying oil and gas to various regions around the world. Depending on the specific conditions, there are different types of drilling platforms. On the one hand, there are fixed platforms, which are anchored to the seabed with a stable base. Another variant is semi-submersible drilling rigs, which float in the sea and can now be positioned precisely over the borehole using GPS systems.
When working on a drilling rig, there is an increased risk of environmental damage in the event of a malfunction. It is therefore crucial that the machines function smoothly and reliably even under extreme conditions.
Düsterloh's pneumatic and hydraulic motors are also used in the offshore sector because they meet the particularly high safety standards that apply here.
Our axial piston motors have impressively demonstrated their performance on unmanned drilling platforms in the North Sea. Even under extreme conditions, they drive screw pumps at a depth of 30 meters below sea level to pump antifreeze. For this application, the motors are operated with a special hydraulic oil that has excellent lubrication and corrosion properties even at low temperatures.

Our axial piston motors of the AE series (AE 3 - AE 45) are designed according to the proven swash plate principle and are characterized by their remarkable power density. Despite their compact design, they deliver exceptionally high performance.
Thanks to their advanced technology, they achieve impressive efficiencies of up to 95 %.
In addition, they are versatile and cover the entire range from low to high speeds.
In contrast to other axial piston motors, they offer outstanding smoothness and uniformity even at low speeds.
Under extreme conditions of up to minus 40 °C, our KM series hydraulic motors perform their task on drilling platforms with impressive reliability. They operate pawls that are essential for precise level control. Extensive tests have been successfully carried out to ensure that the motors function perfectly even under these extreme environmental conditions and meet the requirements of the classification society.
Our tried-and-tested radial piston motors from the KM series (KM 11 - KM 110) have been proving their worth in numerous applications every day for many decades. Thanks to continuous further development and optimization, they are always ready for new areas of application. Their remarkable service life and compact design are particular advantages.
Thanks to their reliability, the motors can even be used in areas with limited space and under demanding environmental conditions. They are also characterized by exceptionally smooth rotation, even at low speeds. This characteristic makes them ideal for applications with slow rotational speeds and for control applications.
