WSW sealing rings are made of a special cellular polyurethane elastomer. This material, which was specially developed for technical applications, is particularly suitable for the manufacture of damping and sealing elements - especially sealing rings.

They are mainly used for sealing bearing points of various designs and serve here as dust and dirt deflectors, whereby the self-lubricating effect can be utilized by oil-impregnated sealing rings.

They are available as standard for all radial spherical plain bearings covered by DIN ISO 12240-1, dimensional series E. Special sizes can be realized at short notice according to customer requirements/customer drawings. In this case, please contact WSW.

Properties
  • Due to their relatively large sealing surface (in contrast to lip or line contact in the case of O-rings) and high tear resistance, sealing rings made of this material in particular can also be used under severe operating conditions (e.g. in tractors, agricultural or construction machinery).
  • They can be compressed by up to 80% and therefore permit large oscillating movements (e.g. in spherical plain bearings).
  • Manufacturing tolerances on the bearing points can be larger because they can be bridged due to the volume compressibility and elastic behavior of the material.
  • The easy deformability enables trouble-free mounting and dismounting.
  • The low compression set (settling behavior) guarantees long functional reliability even under high deformation frequencies, for which resistance to oils and greases is also a guarantee.
  • Temperature range: -30 °C - +80 °C, briefly also +100 °C.
