Grease Traps by EnviroChemie GmbH

EnviroChemie is launching a new, patented grease separator with integrated electroflotation that enables resource-saving and energy-saving operation. With the new technology, the limit values for lipophilic substances and the pH value can be safely complied with.

The installation of grease separator systems is mandatory in commercial kitchens and food processing plants to protect the sewer system from deposits and corrosion caused by fatty acids.

As a rule, the prescribed limit values for lipophilic substances (100 - 300 mg/l depending on local regulations) and the pH value (6.5 - 10) cannot be reliably maintained by a conventional grease separator. The reason for this is biological digestion processes in the grease separator. Fatty acids are then formed which dissolve separated fats again. As a result, the discharge value for lipophilic substances increases and the pH value falls below the required limit value.

A new feature of the patented grease separator is the integrated electroflotation. By applying a DC voltage, electrolysis of the water into oxygen and hydrogen takes place in the grease separator. The small gas bubbles generated intensify the flotation effect. They adhere to the fats and thus promote the separation process. The oxygen radicals also produced during electrolysis partially oxidize dissolved organic compounds and thus additionally lower the limit value for lipophilic substances. Excess gases are vented from the grease separator via the roof. The new grease separator is automated and has an integrated drain program.

"The system is also suitable for retrofitting existing grease separator systems, both for building installation and for buried installation," adds Michael Zitzmann, head of compact systems at EnviroChemie.
