Increase the MTBF of your flow meter/controller
A thermal mass flow meter or controller for gases is sensitive to contamination due to its design. To increase the mean time between failures (MTBF), it is necessary to ensure that the gases entering the instrument are clean. An IN-LINE filter, which is screwed into the inlet of the flow device, serves this purpose. It contains a 316L sintered metal filter cartridge for general filtration and can be cleaned with a suitable solvent. If the gas contains large particles, we recommend the use of a pre-filter.

Choice of filter
Select a low or medium flow filter for instruments with a ¼" female thread on the inlet; the filter forr high flows is suitable for installation in instruments with a ½" female thread; filters for the smallest flows are provided with ⅛" connections. In principle, select the finest porosity with a low pressure differential; ΔP should preferably not exceed 250 to 500 mbar, and porosity should not exceed 5 μm.
