Pumps controlled by flow meters by Bronkhorst High-Tech BV

Pumps are core components in a fluid system. Metering pumps are able to measure the volume flow of a liquid. Process conditions such as temperature, air entrapment, back pressure and wear affect the reading, so the pump needs an additional device to make the necessary correction.

Bronkhorst mass flow and volumetric flow meters provide the ability to directly control a pump to minimize the effect of process conditions on accuracy and repeatability. By placing a flow meter in series with a pump, it is possible to control the pump by correcting the rotational frequency of the pump. Technically, this can be done using a flow meter and a PID controller.
