Shackles by Westdeutscher Drahtseil-Verkauf Dolezych GmbH & Co. KG

Shackles are mainly used in lifting systems as a replaceable connecting link, e.g. to connect sling ropes, sling chains, round slings or other fittings. The use of a shackle makes it easier to replace a damaged wire rope or chain.

Shackles are used in shipping, but also in materials handling and mechanical engineering. Shackles are usually cast or forged from steel or stainless steel.

A distinction is made between shackles with eyebolts, which are mostly used for non-permanent purposes
Shackles with nut and cotter pin, which are used more for long-term applications and projects where the pin could turn under load.
Straight shackles, (also chain shackles), which are mostly used in systems with single occupancy and
Curved shackles (also anchor shackles) for systems with multiple occupancies. Their curved shape makes the connection more flexible.
