Welding & Cutting by Marburger Flanschen GmbH
Our extensive range of services includes flash butt welding. This is a three-phase welding process in which the parts to be joined are repeatedly moved against each other and pulled apart again with a precisely defined current force. This heating process is repeated several times. Finally, the glowing workpieces are approached with the current switched on. A "braising contact" forms at the points of contact. The enormous current density causes a fast heating and melting of the metal.
The partial evaporation creates a metal vapour pressure which throws the molten metal out of the welding gap in the form of sparks. Once the temperature distribution adapted to the workpiece has been reached, the control system initiates the actual welding process, the upsetting and a short time later the switching off of the electrical current.
The upsetting bead that occurs during upsetting is deburred in the warm state by means of a mining hammer. After the welding process has been completed, the flange is straightened and planned under a press.
