The new wastewater treatment plant, which uses vacuum distillation, enables water recycling in production and supports the transition to zero liquid discharge.
Due to increasing environmental pressures and recurring droughts, water is becoming a key issue for the future viability of companies. For years, Sonopol has therefore been working to further develop the plant’s existing water and wastewater treatment system. The idea of returning the treated water to the production process gained increasing importance in this context. Ultimately, Sonopol opted for a VACUDEST vacuum evaporator from H2O to replace the existing physicochemical treatment system.
Let’s take a step back to better understand this decision.
Sonopol wanted to take advantage of the relocation of some of the company’s operations back to the Vendôme site to modernize the water treatment plant. Dismantling the existing plant will free up space so that additional production equipment can be installed. The future evaporation system is significantly more compact and will be housed in a small building next to the plant.
