Bellows couplings are used to connect two shaft journals, such as those found in motors and gearboxes of a drive unit. These couplings must be torsionally rigid, flexible, easy to install, cost-efficient, precise and extremely resilient. The bellows couplings with internal gearing from JAKOB Antriebstechnik meet all these requirements.

The combination of clamping hub and splines in the shaft-hub connection offers considerable advantages, particularly for gearboxes, as it has a very low imbalance. This design is ideal for high, one-sided as well as alternating and intermittent torques. Before installation on the motor shaft, the clamping hub is elastically expanded by unscrewing the clamping screw against a so-called EASY pin in order to generate the necessary counter-pressure. The clutch can then be easily fitted onto the shaft and tightened with a hexagon socket. When the engine and gearbox are connected via a lantern, the clutch hub centers itself automatically and is mounted positively on the gearbox splined shaft without the need for further complicated tightening through mounting holes in the lantern.

The precisely manufactured internal gearing and full testing ensure an extremely precise connection to the drive shaft, which reduces the installation space and eliminates the need for additional connecting elements - a clear advantage in terms of cost-effectiveness. An optional positive drive also ensures increased reliability and safety in the event of bellows breakage due to overload or excessive shaft misalignment. This feature is particularly important for gearboxes in robotics, for example to prevent a robot arm from falling down.

JAKOB Antriebstechnik offers these couplings for all common splined shafts in accordance with DIN 5480. Torques of up to 4000 Nm can be transmitted and the maximum shaft diameter is 102 mm.
