Reliably check the condition of rails and trains

Laser scanners from Micro-Epsilon detect, measure and evaluate profiles without contact on a wide variety of object surfaces. They measure profile, width, height or depth as well as many other measured variables. The available models are available with different measuring ranges and are ideally suited for applications in the field of railroad technology.

For integrators, models are also available for customer-specific programming of the evaluation. Micro-Epsilon will be presenting its extensive product portfolio at the Innotrans trade fair in Berlin - this year's trade fair appearance will focus on laser scanners from the scanCONTROL family.

Detect wear, avoid failures

ScanCONTROL sensors are used, for example, to measure wheel tire profiles or rail head wear. In the latter application, the sensors are installed in special measuring carriages. These can detect the condition of the rail heads even at high speeds. Micro-Epsilon sensors can be used to reliably check the condition of the rails.

Another important area of application is wheel profile measurement with scanCONTROL sensors. Here, the sensors record the wheel profile through half-sided recesses in the rails on the wheel tires. The recorded data is used to determine the maintenance dates for reprofiling.
