At Eppendorf, we recognize the key role that plastic consumables play in the laboratory. At the same time, we are aware that balancing the demands of modern science with concern for the environment is a key challenge for the management of a life science laboratory. Therefore, we follow the principle of "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" whenever and wherever possible and increasingly rely on the use of bio-based raw materials.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
For the packaging options for our epT.I.P.S.® pipette tips, we have relied exclusively on our reusable
epT.I.P.S. boxes for non-pre-sterilized purity grades since 2002. These can be filled again and again with our preloaded reloads and can even be autoclaved up to 100 times if required.
Only recently, the design of our epT.I.P.S. Disposable racks was streamlined to such an extent that, depending on the size, up to 30% of the plastic used in these racks, which meet the highest demands of our customers, could be saved.
This year, we have gone one step further:
We have developed a new form of packaging especially for pre-sterilized pipette tips that requires up to 54% less polypropylene than the disposable racks described above, depending on the size. Together with the epT.I.P.S. Box 2.0, which has also been redesigned, these "Sterile Reloads" form a sustainable, plastic-saving system.
At Eppendorf, we are aware of the key role that plastic consumables play in the laboratory.
At the same time, we are aware that balancing the demands of modern science with concern for the environment is a key challenge for the management of a life science laboratory.
Therefore, we follow the principle of "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" whenever and wherever possible and increasingly rely on the use of biobased raw materials.
Biobased raw material
At the same time as introducing the new Sterile Reloads, we are also optimizing the sustainability of the pipette tips they contain. Following the successful introduction of Eppendorf Tubes ® BioBased made of biobased polypropylene (PP), the pipette tip variants of the new Sterile Reloads are also made of a biobased PP. With bio-based PP, crude oil is largely replaced by 2nd generation edible oil, i.e. edible oil waste and residues mainly generated in the food industry. The renewable-based PP and all manufacturing steps are certified by ISCC Plus - a recognized, world-leading certification system for the production of sustainable products.
BioBased - no compromises
The pipette tips have no quality and performance differences to fossil-based epT.I.P.S. and ep Dualfilter T.I.P.S.® pipette tips. All quality guarantees that we provide with our
product- and batch-specific certificates also apply to epT.I.P.S. and ep Dualfilter T.I.P.S. BioBased. Switching to these pipette tips made from bio-based raw material does not pose any risk to your samples or test results
