With the SensorBoard for position and orientation detection of components, RK Rose+Krieger integrates a technology commonly used in TV studios into its modular system for customer-specific system solutions. The SensorBoard is flexibly scalable and in many cases replaces cost-intensive camera and sensor technology. The system shows its advantages particularly in combination with (collaborating) robots, axis systems and the further automatic processing of products.


Originally developed to be able to move TV cameras in the studio unmanned from the control desk, the SensorBoard technology also has a wide range of applications in industry. Whether automation systems, transfer technology, processing machines or workstation and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) - wherever precise positioning or the handling of freely positioned components is required, the SensorBoard shows its advantages. This is because, unlike conventional sensor and camera technology, the performance of the SensorBoard is not negatively affected by insufficient or extreme or changing light conditions, nor by dirt, dust or oil.


The SensorBoard consists of at least two sensor surfaces and is flexibly scalable from 100 square millimeters. When combined with a cobot, it positions or detects components lying on a sensor surface or located in space with an accuracy of 0.01 millimeter and grips them as precisely as if the system were mechanically coupled. Used in manual cobot carts (or even fully automated AGV systems) moving between multiple workstations or assembly lines, SensorBoard technology enables highly accurate positioning of the respective vehicle at its destination, preparing it for further fully automated handling of products from a wide range of industries.
