Plastic rods - versatile all-rounders!

Plastic rods are particularly practical for aqua gymnastics. Whether used as a gymnastics pole on dry land or as a gymnastics pole in the water, these solid poles made of ABS plastic can withstand a lot. They are easy to maintain and stable. They can withstand temperatures between -15 °C and +50 °C. These are almost always round bars. However, polyamide or PVC are also popular for round rods. The average diameter is 2 cm. Plastic is the ideal material for all rods and bars that are to be in continuous use, easy to clean and yet robust. Of course, manufacturers have to take into account the stress and other requirements as well as different uses during production.

Is there any other use for plastic rods?

In industrial production, plastic rods are manufactured in various colours and shapes as semi-finished products. They are therefore subsequently subjected to a further manufacturing process. These are often made of acrylic glass, PVC, polyamide, PTVE or POM. The material acrylic glass is often used for fluorescent round rods. Polyethylene is a thermoplastic material and is therefore used everywhere in industrial manufacturing. Round rods made of this material are mainly used in the medical technology, drinking water and food industries. Manufacturers must therefore ensure that these rods always comply with the latest FDA regulations and are also approved for use in the food industry.

Polyamides also belong to the group of thermoplastics. Because of their high stability, they are used as gymnastic bars. These rods have very good properties such as high abrasion resistance, high mechanical strength with high toughness, very good sliding properties as well as very good vibration and noise damping and high moisture absorption.

They are therefore preferred for the production of the following components

What should manufacturers pay special attention to in this area?

Plastic rods must meet high standards, regardless of what they are later used for or further processed. Above all, dimensional stability, durability and heat resistance are required. In addition, special attention should be paid to the careful selection of additives. High quality goes without saying in continuous use. Round bars, gymnastic bars or round rods are also often ordered in larger quantities and especially "online". For the "civilian" sector, such as gymnastics clubs or schools, it makes sense to make staggered offers. Bausch and Bogen offers are therefore certainly also very useful in these cases. Due to the longevity, a good price-performance ratio is absolutely necessary. The availability in different colors and shapes is becoming more and more important.
