Below you will find an overview of the most important criteria to look out for when buying lemons:

When buying lemons, there are some important points to consider in order to select the best fruit:

• The peel should be shiny and smooth, without spots, shrinkage or damage. A thicker skin often indicates a less juicy lemon, while a thinner skin tends to mean juicier fruit.
• Lemons should be a bright yellow color. Greenish lemons may not be fully ripe and may be sour.
• A good lemon will feel heavy in proportion to its size, indicating that it is juicy. Lighter lemons may be dry inside.
• The lemon should feel firm, but not hard. A light squeeze should cause the peel to give slightly, indicating a ripe and juicy fruit.
• Ripe lemons have a fresh, citrusy scent. If a lemon has little or no scent, it could be unripe or old.
• If possible, go for organic lemons, especially if you want to use the peel, as they contain fewer pesticides.
• Look for lemons that appear fresh and show no signs of spoilage or overripeness, such as soft spots or mold. These lemons will last longer.

By keeping these points in mind, you can ensure that you choose high-quality lemons that are fresh, juicy and flavorful.
