Conveyor belt scales are maintenance-free, easy to install in existing systems and are equipped with integrated transport and overload protection. In contrast to hopper scales, where the bulk material flows vertically into the scale, with conveyor belt scales the bulk material is applied horizontally to the scale. Belt conveyors are used for loading vehicles. They are conveyor belts equipped with scales. In addition, the measuring station enables the bulk material to be recorded and documented. The measuring ranges and belt speeds are between 500 kg/h and 10,000 t/h.

How does a belt weigher work?

It consists of a stable angular steel profile frame. This is flat and modular in design, so that it can be installed in almost any system. The transducers are equipped with a mechanical overload stop and are thus protected against shock loads. The lubrication-free force application eliminates the need for regular maintenance. The transported bulk material generates a pressure load, which is absorbed by the weighing frame and transmitted to one or more load cells. The weight signal is normalized by the evaluation electronics and then calculates the mass flow in t/h. The mass flow is then multiplied over time by the weight of the bulk material. The mass flow is included over time so that the result of the weighing is the absolute quantity conveyed. The conveying speed is measured by a stable measuring wheel on the deflection drum. Three counters are available as batch, daily or total counters. Two-roller belt weighers are available, which offer even higher accuracy by reducing the influence of the conveyor belt. This type of weighfeeder is ideal for batching and loading purposes and for low conveying capacities below 50 t/h.

Interesting facts about conveyor belt scales

With conveyor belt scales, accuracies of up to 99.9 % can be achieved. The error limits are between 1 and 2.5 %. Conveyor belts are available in different widths and therefore also in different performance ranges. The most common are between 500 and 1950 mm wide. The sensors and bearings are hermetically shielded against contamination. The conveyor belt scale can be readjusted at any time with a test weight.

What are the advantages of a conveyor belt scale?

Conveyor belt scales are available with a hot-dip galvanized load-bearing station that is resistant to any dirt pick-up. Due to the simple design of the telescopic force transducer, the conveyor belt scale can be adapted and installed to different belt widths at any time. The scale is pre-assembled. As the mechanism is adjustable, it can be installed in another conveyor belt at any time. Due to the excellent sealing, no moisture or other aggressive substances penetrate the scale. It is ideally suited for harsh environments. A resolution of 100.000 d and a capacity and weighing range of 50 kg makes the single point load cell suitable for almost all applications. Furthermore, it is equipped with a 300% overload protection. Under ideal installation conditions, the conveyor belt scale achieves an accuracy of ± 0.5%.
