Electric Underrunning Overhead Single Girder Gantry Cranes

STARK Cranes & Hoists

At STARK Cranes we specialize in designing and manufacturing of underrunning (underhung) crane systems, when the priority is to maximize approachable floor space.

The crane bridge and trolley travel beneath a continuous runway that is fixed to the building structure or a separate gantry, so there is no heavy runway beam across the workshop floor and the working area remains unobstructed. Our overhead underrunning lifting solutions use modular, low-deadweight profile girders and a broad range of trolleys and hoists to create compact, low-headroom installations that are easy to adapt to existing roofs or production lines.

Steel is generally used for making such cranes, however lightweight aluminum for particularly low structural loadings is available. Typical benefits include simplified installation when roof structure is available, reduced civil works, flexible span and hoist selection and the ability to achieve fine positioning and variable travel speeds through matched drives and controls, makes these load handling systems ideal for assembly lines, light-manufacturing and retrofit projects.

Do reach out us for any requirements!

Their main components include:

Runway System: Steel or enclosed track beams fixed to the building structure, supporting the crane bridge and transferring loads to columns or roof trusses.

Bridge Girder: A single or double girder that travels along the runway; it carries the trolley and hoist assembly.

End Carriages (End Trucks): Wheel assemblies mounted at both ends of the bridge, enabling smooth longitudinal travel along the runway beam.

Trolley: Moves laterally across the bridge girder and supports the hoist unit for precise load positioning.

Hoist Unit: Electric chain or wire rope hoist with motor, gearbox, brake, rope/chain, and hook block for vertical lifting.

Electrical System: Festoon cables or conductor lines supplying power to bridge and hoist motions, including control panels and limit switches.

Control System: Pendant station or radio remote for operating hoist, trolley, and bridge movements.

Safety Components: Overload protection, upper/lower limit switches, emergency stop, anti-derail guides, and buffers to ensure safe operation.
