Locking system for aircraft baggage doors
The task
Develop a secure locking system for luggage flaps
Our solution
Luggage flap locks generally close mechanically. But if you want to make sure they lock one hundred percent securely, you need something more: MST expertise. To make it more secure, we used an electric linear solenoid for each flap in addition to the mechanical locking mechanism, which prevents the flap from popping open or accidentally being left open.
Here's what that does: as soon as the magnet reaches its final position securely locking the flap it emits a green light in the cockpit for the pre-takeoff check.
