The MOP301 immersion sensor from E+E Elektronik precisely measures the moisture in transformer, lubricating or hydraulic oil as well as in diesel fuel. It is used for preventive maintenance of plants and machines. The stainless steel sensor can be used in oils up to 120 °C and 20 bar pressure. The measurement data for water activity, temperature and absolute water content are available via the RS485 interface with Modbus RTU protocol.
Excellent measuring performance, robust design
The E+E humidity sensor elements used in the MOP301 are characterized by their long-term stability and resistance to contamination. They are the basis for highly accurate and reliable humidity and temperature measurement.
Mechanically, the immersion sensor impresses with a robust stainless steel housing with IP66 protection, an oil-resistant cable and an overmolded M12 connector. It can be used in a temperature range of -40 to 120 °C and up to 20 bar pressure.
Different probe and cable lengths as well as the slim design allow a particularly flexible installation of the MOP301. With the practical sliding screw connection, the immersion depth can be precisely adjusted and changed if necessary. With the aid of an optional ball valve, the sensor can be installed and removed without interrupting the process and under pressure.
Measured values and interfaces
The MOP301 provides the moisture content of the oil as an absolute or relative value. The water activity (aw) indicates the relative moisture content of an oil and describes the ratio of actual to maximum possible amount of dissolved water. The aw value provides information on how close the oil is to the saturation point at a given temperature.
The water content (x) expresses the moisture content in absolute terms. It is expressed in ppm or mg water / kg oil. The MOP301 calculates the water content based on the measured water activity and temperature. The oil-specific parameters required for the calculation can be pre-configured at the factory, written via Modbus RTU or subsequently stored using the PCS10 Product Configuration Software.
The measured values are provided via an RS485 interface with Modbus RTU protocol.
Expandable to a sensor unit
The MOP301 is compatible with the Sigma 05 sensor hub from E+E Elektronik. The sensor can be plugged into the host device using the plug-and-play principle and thus expanded into a sensor unit with analog outputs and optional display.
